Panasonic Lx5 Vs Canon S95

!: Panasonic Lx5 Vs Canon S95

In the high-end compact digital camera market, the Panasonic lx5 vs Canon s95 separate from the rest of the pack. Both are top 20 products and both are excellent cameras. The real dilemma is deciding which one to buy. On the surface it seems that one really isn't much different from the other, but before you click the buy button read my performance review of the Panasonic lx5 vs Canon s95.

Each camera offers 10 MP capture and HD video recording. Each has a ton of features for the 0 price: low-noise photos, vivid color saturation, high-speed processing, and good video capture. Even the savviest shopper has a hard time detecting which camera is the better product. However, consumers are already weighing in on their experiences and comparison of the two cameras and the Panasonic lx5 vs Canon s95 debate is quickly being laid to rest.

So far, the winner is the Lumix LX5 for its sensibility in ease of use. Most consumers feel that the Lumix just plain makes more sense in how it operates. For instance, it has a direct button for video recording. No fiddling with a dial to change to movie mode. Just click the button and you instantly switch to recording without losing any precious seconds of time trying to catch an exciting moment.

The second complaint about the Panasonic lx5 vs Canon s95 is that the Canon doesn't zoom during video recording and the Lumix does. Score one more for the LX5. Okay not too bad.

But what about the pictures you say?

Lumix wins again. There are too many advantages to list in a one page article, so I will just name a few of the deal breakers for me.

1. Larger Sensor Size

The LX5 has a 50% larger sensor surface than the standard P&S which means it allows larger pixels.

2. RAW File Storage

The LX5 has this option which is huge when you want highest image quality for certain images.

3. Image Stabilization

IS is better on the LX5 which means you can take clear pictures at higher shutter speeds.

4. Truer Macro

Macro range as close as 1cm on the LX5 vs 5cm on the S95.

5. HD Video for TV

The LX5 can record HD for TV and the S95 cannot.

6. Faster Lens

The LX5 is a full stop faster than the S95.

7. Battery Life

400 pictures per charge on the LX5 compared to 200 picture on the S95.

8. Wider Angle Lens

The 24mm wide-angle lens on the LX5 actually offers a wider view and better light sensitivity than the S95 28mm lens.

These are just the most noteworthy categories where Panasonic wins the Panasonic lx5 vs Canon s95 argument. Really, the price was the only real divide that gave an edge to the S95. That is no longer the case now that the Lumix LX5 now sells for the same as the Canon.
